The MHS Alumni Network has created a sustainable platform and framework that has been providing guidance and career counseling for students enrolled at the School in Jamaica.
The Alumni has expanded the programme for continued guidance to graduates who transition from Jamaica in the pursuit of higher education internationally including Canada, United States of America and Europe.
In the medium to long-term the mentorship programme platform and framework will be expanded beyond the Manchester High School family to other Jamaican high school enrollees and graduates.
The MHS Alumni Mentorship Program was established in July 2018 by the graduating class of 1988 as a part of their 30th reunion “ give back efforts”. The program has since expanded to include all MHS Alumni groups. Today mentors represent graduating classes of 1978 to 2012 from a wide range of professions.
The objective of the program is to provide academic and career mentoring to current MHS students. The program does not replace the official services of the Guidance Office, instead, the Mentoring Committee collaborates extensively with the Guidance Office.
The success of the program is based on our signature onsite educational and speed mentoring events. As well as, ongoing 1:1 mentoring with students and alumnus, generally based on career interest. The program has expanded to incorporate virtual educational and mentoring events.

Newcomers to Canada often find it challenging irrespective of age, gender, or profession. Those transitioning to higher education are often most vulnerable. The Newcomer Mentorship Program provides support and orientation to international students transitioning from Manchester High School in Jamaica to university or other post secondary education in Canada.
The Chapter will provide strategic mentoring matches which will allow newcomer mentees to develop confidence and capacity to navigate the Canadian culture, climatic conditions, career development and leveraging the Canadian experience to the best of their abilities.
Our mentorship delivery will be supported by Mentorlux mobile application.
