Welcome to Manchester High School Global Alumni Network

The Manchester High School Global Alumni Network (GAN)

is an alliance family!

Thank you for taking time to browse our website. We hope the time you spend with us may be enjoyable as you get to know about us and our values.

Our primary objective is to give back to our Alma Mater Manchester High School Jamaica, helping especially the most vulnerable youths to achieve superior outcomes, and facilitate the school’s growth to greatness through group and individual philanthropy.

We are proud of being part of a like-minded, yet diverse alliance filled with energy and motivation to give back more to our Alma Mater. We have great chapters, year groups and individual philanthropic members from all across the world who call the Alumni Network their home, including but not limited to Atlanta, Class of 1984, Class of 1988, Class of 1997, Europe , Florida, Jamaica, New York, and Toronto.

Our Alumni Network has over the decades undertaken several initiatives aimed at facilitating developments at MHS, Jamaica. We do not strive to gain glory points, rather focused on building human character and capacity as a cornerstone anchor of nation building, which we do as teams and individually.

We encourage and welcome currently enrolled students and graduates to join this alliance, as we strive to maintain Manchester High School Jamaica as the “Supreme Home of Champions”

Please browse through our website to learn more about us, but most importantly, ask questions, share knowledge, and donate to a cause.

OUR HISTORY

Since the mid-1970's several Alumni Chapters and Year Groups were formed in response to a need for energetic, synergistic, humanitarian non-profit work in giving back to our Alma Mater.

This experiment assures capacity building and realization of optimal potential among young people enrolled and graduates of Manchester High School.

The Alumni have consistently worked to provide sensible solutions in favour of academic, physical and mental development, as well as fostered a culture and sense of belonging and connectedness.

We have consistently grown since then, and have morphed into a network that functions as a global team, tasked to develop and implement processes, procedures, tools and controls to achieve the benefits of the synergies.

All thanks to the helping hands of this amazing Alumni community!

WHO WE ARE

The Manchester High School Global Alumni Network (MHSGAN) is an international coalition of former students of Manchester High School,  Jamaica.

The MHSGAN includes Chapters, Year Groups and Philanthropic individuals currently residing in specific geographic regions: Atlanta, Florida, France, Jamaica, New York, Canada,  United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.

Our membership typically consist of:

  •  Graduates;
  •  Individuals who pursued courses, attending at least one academic year and leading to regular high school graduation certificate;
  • Individuals who attended less than one academic year and maintain genuine interest in being affiliated;
  • Many persons of long-established loyalty and devotion to the School also identify as Alumni.

We are organized through several chapters, year groups and benevolent individuals working together along common and group/individual specific themes to accomplish certain objectives.

The MHSGAN collaborates to maintain a sense of  a tightly knitted community, connection and belonging for students who are currently enrolled and grads, long after they leave Manchester High school, our home away from home.  We value our relationships within the Alumni Network, the ongoing relationship with our 'Alma  Mater', and we love  to stay in touch.

MHS - GLOBAL ALUMNI NETWORK CHAPTERS & YEAR GROUPS

    PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

    Principal’s Report for the Manchester High School Global Alumni Network

    It is with a sense of delight and great anticipation that I greet President Dr. Lundie Richards, the members of the Secretariat of and the Manchester High School Global Alumni Network (MHSGAN) and indeed all our alumni members across the globe.  I commend this awesome initiative which started May 22, 2021 with the purpose of strengthening and enhancing bonds between all alumni groups and Manchester High School.

    The challenges brought on educational systems across the world have amplified the need for strong partnerships as we seek to change the lives of our young people, preparing them to have the best educational experiences and outcomes against the background of the current global realities.

    Undoubtedly, Manchester High School is a formidable force in the local and international educational landscape.  Among our rich legacies are the achievements, brilliance and philanthropic fervor of our alumni members.  The support for the school through the years in areas such as students’ welfare and academic support, sports, mentorship, development projects and creative ideas has been priceless.

    The idea of a Global Network is yet another creative thought that will be the standard for alumni groups in Jamaica.

    I encourage all members of the network to stay committed to the cause as it has never been about us, but rather the lives in our care who desperately seek for a meaningful pathway in life.  Let us therefore be patient and not easily discouraged or frustrated in the process!

    The possibilities are indeed endless.  The Manchester High School Global Alumni Network has the full support of our Board of Management and all stakeholders. We appreciate your interest, time, talent and expertise that you are investing in the lives of our students.

    We are open to your input in our strategic planning as we reposition amidst the changing demands of the 21st Century.  Some key areas of endeavor in our current development plan includes:

    • Additional classroom space to cater to our large population
    • Construction of an adequate indoor facility/auditorium on campus
    • Provision of adequate internet access and technological resources for staff and students
    • Procuring a more modern school bus
    • Refurbishing the entire school plant in recreational facilities

    I pray God’s favor on the Manchester High School Global Alumni Network.  May the Network grow from strength to strength cognizant in the fact that “Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world”.

    Jasford Gabriel - Principal
